Reach stacker is a specialized loader designed for loading, transporting over short distances and unloading standard containers, semi–trailers and other cargo.

The general device of the richstacker

The reachstacker consists of a wheelbase (usually biaxial), on which are installed: lifting equipment, operator's cabin, power unit and transmission, counterweights, hydraulic system and other components. As lifting equipment, a rotary telescopic two- or three-section boom with a hydraulic drive is used, on which a load–lifting body - a spreader is mounted. The spreader consists of a frame (rigid or sliding) with grips that secure a standard container, semi-trailer van or other cargo. As a rule, the boom is mounted in the rear of the reachstacker chassis, and the cabin can have a tilt or position change system. Outriggers (supports) are not provided for this machine, overturning is prevented by counterweights.

Classification of reach stackers

The machines are classified according to the following criteria:

• Purpose – for empty and loaded containers.
• Loading side – front and side.
• The type of arrow is straight, L-shaped and others.

Also, the reach stackers can be equipped with various spreaders: with an upper or lower grip, with grips for semi-trailers, vans, with special grips for working with boxes, rolls, etc.
